Art Analysis on Deaths Door

Death's Door | Steam PC Game

This cute dungeon crawler-esque game is absolutely amazing and has made its way into my top 10 favorite games to play- and here is why!

Not only in the art style really cute and wholesome, but it gives me Studio Ghibli vibes in a way that almost makes me nostalgic, from a large witch that has completely taken over one of the realms who looks like Baba Yaga (Yubaba), to the small forest sprites that follow you around that look like they came from Princess Mononoke, this game has a lot of fun content that can keep you busy for hours!

Each new character you meet, good and bad, has their own lore to them- making them very complex characters and even making you feel bad for them at some points instead of resentment/hate, which is very nice for a video game since a lot of storytelling doesn't seem to go that far in depth about the villain's or side characters. There are even references to things like H.P. Lovecraft with the fisherman you meet in one of your realms actually being controlled by an octopus! (There is a super cute quest to do for the octopus as you move along in the game!)

There is a lot of land to cover, and you can always find new enemies to kill so you can upgrade your powers, weapons, "armor" with the souls you collect from them! The enemies respawn every time you leave an area, so there is always something to do.

I had found that it is easy to rage-quit on this game though, especially during the final boss fight. When you sie, you respawn at the beginning of the big fights of the realm you are in. If you are seconds away from killing that boss but you die- you are brought back to the beginning to fight a full HP boss again. But its hard to stay away from this game!

And not to mention the story is amazing! Even though it might not be for everyone- the story is very cute and even had me tearing up in some areas, there was slight comedy throughout the dialog which added for a night break of tension, and on top of everything else- the CHARACTER ART FOR THE RAVEN THAT YOU PLAY AS. amazing, so cute and simple, and the weapon choices is very fun and diverse.

All around this game is definitely one for the books and something you should definitely play!
