Dynasty Warriors: Why Hasn't it Died Yet?

Hello all,

Has anyone else been wondering why the Dynasty Warriors game series hasn't died out yet? Don't get me wrong, I quite enjoy the game. I'm surprised how a game that's mechanics and story hasn't been changed much over the years is still able to create sequels. Was it KOEI teaming up with Nintendo to create Hyrule Warriors? Well it certainly helped them I'm sure.

Dynasty Warriors was first released in 1997 and was really popular because it reminded players of Tekken. Originally it started out as a one-on-one fighting game. Players were able to fight as characters from the Three Kingdoms period with Tekken like game play.

As the years have passed Dynasty Warriors has turned into something much different. In comparison to other games it has become quite original with it's game play. From Dynasty Warriors 2 up until the most recent 8th game the style of game play has only been modified. This series has stayed popular throughout the years due to it's fan base. Fans love the style of game play and enjoy playing the game regardless of the game's story or mechanics not changing majorly. As of recently this series is still one of the only games out there that still supports split screen gaming. Most games on platforms that aren't made by Nintendo have moved on from the split screen, same room gaming and have replaced it with local or online gaming. I personally don't like this change, because I love playing with my friends during parties and other kind of events without having to have to play fighting games like Mortal Kombat or Tekken.

This game series has also broadened it's horizons by creating games that aren't always about the Three Kingdoms Era. KOEI's most recent "Dynasty Warriors" like game was Hyrule Warriors. Hyrule Warriors was extremely successful and a nice change for both of the game series. Combining these two series was a great thing to do. They have also done a spin off of One Piece: Pirate Warriors, and Dragon Quest Heros. These games have helped keep the Dynasty Warriors franchise up and running and very successful.

KOEI has made some very good choices over the years that has helped it stay successful with this game series. This along with a great fan base that keeps on coming for more fighting.

That's all for today!
