Remakes Made by Dedicated Fans

Hello all,

One of my favorite things to see is fan made remakes of old games. I've done a blog on this in the past called "Taking Inspiration to the Next Level". I've seen some new ones recently that I wanted to blog about.

Game engines now are amazing compared to what they were in the past. We have come so far in advancing the game industry to make our games look almost life like. What's even better is that some of these game engines are easily available to anyone. Their fairly cheap or even free to get. With this many people are able to really show their abilities and shine. Many people take their passion and their love for a game and remake it to be what it would look and play like with the technology that they have today. I've seen many students here at UAT do this for final projects and personal projects. Even I'm currently working on a Jak and Daxter inspired race track level that I hope will look as good as what these guys have made. The levels that I've seen the most done is remakes of the Legend of Zelda series. Fans loved these games and from all of these remakes you can tell that they want an actual remake from Nintendo. Below you can see some of the Zelda Remakes that I've found recently.

There is one guy who makes a lot of the projects that I really like. He is CryZENx on YouTube. He does a lot of Nintendo game remakes and is really good with particle effects. You can see a highlight reel of his below.

There are many other remakes that you can find. I found another one recently of a Bioshock level remake as well. You can see it below.

And lastly Minecraft has become so popular over the past couple years. With the create mode it can now be used as a game engine of sorts. There are many fans of the Game of Thrones series who play Minecraft and with a lot of teamwork these fans have put together what they call WesterosCraft. This is the world of Westeros all created in Minecraft by fans. In the video below you'll be able to see a lot of the areas but I encourage you to find the videos that highlight each area. They even got Issac (Bran Stark) to Narrate the video.

That's all for today,
