This upcoming week E3 (June 12-16) will be taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This is an exciting event for all gamers around the world. This event showcases announcements, updates, and news in the game industry. Every big company like Sony, and Microsoft hold press conferences to show off all of the work that has been done over the last year. There is already a schedule of when each conference is going to happen. Over the past 3 years I've been here at UAT, it's actually been a fun time during E3. Most of the students here are tuning into the press conferences before and after classes. They usually play a stream of the conferences in the cafe during all of the meals as well. One of the best things about E3 is that it is for game developers only to attend. I have seen UAT students go to this even because UAT is a game studio as well and could possibly pass. Even better: It's free!
This year hold a whole bunch of announcements and updates. Everything from Horizon Zero Dawn's release date to possibly bringing back CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077. E3 is also a time for other developers and the press to play test a lot of new and future games. Nintendo wasn't too smart this year because instead of doing a press conference, or a Nintendo Direct, they decided to just hold a session where you can play test the new Zelda game. This is very unwise when Nintendo is already struggling to keep up with Sony and Microsoft. This means that they don't have anything outstanding to show the public. Although if that is the situation this was a good move because they would be avoiding bad reviews.
So what should you expect this year?
A release date announcement and possibly more information regarding Horizon Zero Dawn. An update on the status of No Man's Sky. Console advancements based on rumors of the Ps4.5 and the XboxOne 2. A release date on The Last Guardian (don't be too surprised if not... :<) Lots of VR games. A new Call of Duty and Battlefield. Maybe even an announcement of the rumored Injustice 2.
There is a lot that will covered in this E3 and I'm looking forward to seeing everything that will be shown.
That's all for today!
