Animation That Doesn't Die

Hello all! We have been seeing a major shift in Disney's movies as of recently. In the early 2000's Disney was still very popular with 2D animation and had started it's shift to 3D. Disney's interest in 2D animation was very quickly declining. This shift caused one famous Disney 2D animator to leave Disney. Glen Keane is one of the most famous animators in history. He worked on many movies that most of us grew up on and have loved since we were children. He is most known for being the main animator and creator or Ariel, Beast, Pocahontas, and Rapunzel. Any of your favorite animated scenes from these movies were probably done by Glen Keane. [su_youtube url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dL--LwIgXo4"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi7KPDi_yQI&feature=youtu.be[/su_youtube] Glen had tried to convince Disney that 2D was still important and can still be loved by many, but Disney saw more profit in shifting to 3D causing Glen to leave Disney. He completed his last short used by Disney called Paperman. [su_dailymotion url="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xzt3vb_paperman_shortfilms"] Since his departure he has done many things on his own such as working with google to create an amazing animation Duet. It's called Nephtali.

Glen is one of my idols because he refuses to let 2D animation die. Many film companies are leaving 2D behind for live-action and 3D animation. 2D is the base of animation, many people including myself learned and understand the basic principles of animation due to learning them through 2D animation. It's pretty cool to note that one of our Game Art and Animation professors has gone to a school that Glen was a professor at.

That's all for today,

Karina
