IT… We All Float to the Theater (SPOILERS)

Posted on Sep 28, 2017 4:24:06 PM by Jacob Turocy

I saved the date Sept. 8, to my calendar. I knew that this movie was going to be my most anticipated movie of the year. When I watched the first trailer with Digital Video alumni Killian Davies, it sent chills down my back during almost every scene. One of things that stuck out to me was the cinematography of the film, how they used Dutch angles and even the sound design to match up with the shots. Obviously in horror sounds are strategically placed to build tension, create fear, and scare the hell out of you. The marketing was one of the greatest parts of the film. IT was everywhere every time I would log on Facebook, I would see something about the movie, whether that was a countdown, another trailer or set photos of Pennywise the Clown. For me the original IT holds a special place in my heart along with every other classic horror film. The cast in the 2017 version seemed more like a group of friends compared to the 1990’s version.

    Cinematography Finals Are Finally Here

Posted on Aug 16, 2017 10:21:06 AM by Jacob Turocy in Blogs

You may of gathered from the title.. it's Finals Week and I'm almost done.

This whole semester was one giant learning experience as I've had the chance to work on extraordinary projects. My favorite class so far has to be cinematography because I have been able to improve my camera skills. I discovered that I enjoy color grading and capturing sound effects. Below is a still image from one of my shorts from my final in cinematography. For this shot, I mainly focused mainly on smooth camera movement and wanted to make use of the overcast sky that was available to me. My goal was to be artistic and create a story with as few shots as possible. The fun part was editing the poem over it.

    Indie Filmmaker

Posted on Aug 9, 2017 10:29:31 AM by Jacob Turocy in Blogs

Hello folks! Today I would like to talk about filmmaking, and working independently. When it comes to making a movie, I enjoy being on the production set the most. Sepcifically being behind the camera, whether this be Director of Photography or a camera operator, just being able to have the camera in my hands makes the day worthwhile.

Check out some of videos I filmed on my website. I plan on adding more films to my reel after I complete my cinematography final.

Below are some of the videos I shot.

    Pokemon Go! Again?

Posted on Jul 25, 2017 10:18:29 AM by Jacob Turocy in Blogs

Yes, the Pokemon Go app has returned to my phone once again. Pokemon Go has had a lot of updates so I thought about giving it another shot. My girlfriend download it too and I have to say it quite fun to play with her. The other day we went pokemon hunting and captured a two gyms and completed two raids. The app also added a bunch of cool events like a Christmas Pikachu and Pikachu wearing Ash's hat and I think it's awesome!

    Wonder Woman

Posted on May 23, 2017 9:42:02 AM by Jacob Turocy in Blogs

Hello and Goodmorning! So as recently you all know that Wonder Woman is coming on June 1st and you can bet I'll be there this is the 4th movie for the DC Universe, So far we have had Man of Steel , Batman Vs Superman , Suicide Squad. All have been spectacular in my opinion and this just adds to Justice League.  Recently I have been on a comic book reading spree , mainly I have been reading DC Rebirth and Faith. Rebirth is excellent and Wonder Woman in Rebirth is different then we've seen her before she they added way more muscle because lets face it Wonder Woman has the strength close to superman. This is only fitting that she looks stronger. this makes her Rebirth character so much cooler.

    I'm Always Into Juggernog!

Posted on May 16, 2017 11:05:56 AM by Jacob Turocy in Blogs

Hello! and Welcome today is a wonderful day and that being said I'm excited to see that Zombie Chronicles has finally released on PlayStation and will soon be released on Xbox One. Call of Duty Zombies has been a huge part of my middle school/high school years endless rounds if bullets and zombags. I remember picking up my copy of Call of Duty World at War and enjoyed the campaign but then after I completed the campaign I saw that it unlocked a game mode called Nazi Zombies so I figured why not and started playing and immediately I was memorized by the game mode. I mean who wouldn't love fighting off hordes of zombies with all the older weapons like the PPSH or Type 100 and lets not forget about the MG 42 the even added a weapon called the ray gun which was just some fun and possibly the best gun at the time that map was called  Nacht der Untoten. I don't Treyarch realized what they have created but it was genius and would later would still be going on today in 2017.
